Busy , or just busy body

Read Time:3 Minute, 12 Second

Recently a friend sent me a book titled “Tools of Titans ; The habits , routine, and tactics of Billionaires ” written by Tim Ferris. Forget about the heavy tittle , it’s a none issue anyway . But on a serious note , I recommend that you get a read of this book . It will be worth your time . Especially if you are in the ‘kuomoka’ gang , and after all , everyone wants to be rich .

However that is a non issue today . Getting rich or not will be a subject of another day. Whilst reading this book , I came across a concept , or rather an idea , or let’s say an opinion . And it is this opinion that got me thinking deeply . It was about the fact the in this time and generation , people are ever busy . Yes , you call a friend for a catch up call ,and they are like call me later I am busy. You organize a date but your crush doesn’t show up because they are busy . You expect your partner to be there for you always ,but they hardly give you a pint of their time ,reason being they are busy . Your appointment gets revoked at the last hour because the boss is busy .

So really , are people ever busy ? Are we justified to say ,or rather claim that we are busy ? Are we sincerely busy ? Is there any returns for being busy ? And is being busy considered somehow prestigious ? And is doing nothing , or rather being idle bad ? Now , these are the set of questions I got to my head while reading the book. It is these questions that got me thinking so deeply . And Finally I have an answer.

Being busy is a state whereby someone is committed into doing something , what we also called a preoccupation. At this particular time , the focus and energy is on that particular task , and any other act is obstraction. A busy body is someone who does a lot of nothing in guise of doing a lot of something. You have obviously heard about the phrase ,’ karubandika’ . A busy body is actually a karubandika’. So are we usually busy or we are just busy bodies ?

A trend is rising , where a lot of people think it is cool to be busy . Or rather , it is cool to appear busy . The society has put pressure on everyone , that if you are not busy then you are lesser human . This has forced people to look out even for the most unnecessary of task , so as just to appear busy. This has seen people take more time in doing stuff that do not profit , or rather satisfy them . This has made people lose focus , come up with schedule that are not necessary to appear busy .

Methinks , it is not a bad thing if genuinely you have nothing to do. Yes , take that free time , and sleep . Take a walk , talk to friends , arrange for dates , call that pretty girl , learn how to cook , and just do nothing . Yes , it is not bad to have nothing to do . You can even meditate , think , and imagine. For your information , the greatest accomplishments were at one time just imaginations.

And then when something reasonable comes up , do it with pure and sharp focus , so as to achieve maximum yield . Yields differ , from monetary , to happiness ,…or let’s say satisfaction. This is better of than creating unnecessary tasks , that have no yield at all . In the end you will have wasted your time ,energy and achieved nothing .

In conclusion , let as be wary of what we give our time. Let it be worth the time. Be busy and not a busy body. Have a plan . Have a schedule . And when there is nothing to be busy for , relax , it is not the end of the world. Do not fake being busy !
