The country is breaking

3 0
Read Time:38 Second

Ethnicity is retrogressive
The land fought for by warriors
The land founded by the forefathers
Claimed from the chains of the British

More than fifty years later
The land is still divided
Not once or twice but
Along several lines

The haves and the have nots
These people and those people
This tribe and that tribe
This dynasty and that peasant

The majority youth
Remaining unemployed
The gap still widening
Yet fighting each other

The cops committing crimes
Illegal firearms sold in the borders
Cattle rustling among the communities
Gang memberships in the streets

The youth have found solace
Not in their government
But through radical groups
Al-shabaab and the Gaza

The leaders sponsor chaos
They gatecrash other’s rallies
They mobilize church fights
They even threaten each other

I foreshadow some dream
The country is heading
To the 1982 replica
More polarized than ever

The busy streets of Nairobi
